Hey everyone, I’m Yakshith, a 15-year-old in the Greater Toronto Area. I’m really passionate about anything AI and Neurotech!
And for previous subscribers, welcome back! If you liked all the previous ones, you will for sure like this one too.
Building Furnish.AI
If you read my June newsletters, you probably know about Buildspace. It’s a program where thousands of people get together for 6 weeks and just create something. Anything. Here was my idea:
Here was the demo video for my toy aka the prototype
After that, I decided to actually build out the whole thing. Here’s how it works
User uploads an image of their room onto the web app and picks a style (Modern, Antique etc.)
A computer vision model analyzes the image and detects furniture items.
Using the detected furniture items, it uses a predefined list of items and sorts out which ones aren’t in the image. For example, a bedroom would have a bed, chair, table, and a nightstand. If the model detects a bed and nightstand, the app knows that it needs a table and a chair.
Based on the items that we need, it fetches them from an database that was generated with IKEA’s furniture items.
It displays the fetched images along with their respective descriptions.
Here’s the full demo video for the V1! 🔗
There are still a lot of things I can implement such as:
Curated Feed: Learning from the user preferences to recommend better items.
Augmented Reality: An AR experience for the user to see how the items would look
Blender Donut
If you’ve been reading my last few posts, you would know I've been learning a new skill: Blender.
Blender is a 3D software where you can do literally anything. From modelling to animating to texturing.
In June, I made a Gameboy console, you can check it out here!
This month, I’ve decided to make a Donut, one of the most basic projects for a beginner Blender learner. It wasn’t too different from the Gameboy, however I learned a few more concepts such as Animation and UV shading.

Article on AI X Sports
AI is rapidly transforming every industry. From retail to even manufacturing.
However, the one that’s not talked about enough is sports.
Statistics play a very big role whenever you’re talking about sports. We all know the potential of AI in recording stats, or even acting as a referee for games.
However, many of these ideas pose many ethical risks.
1517 Summit in Toronto
The 1517 fund is a venture capitalist firm that invests in people with unconventional backgrounds.
On July 27th, they hosted their annual summit in Toronto, called a Will to Power.
My favorite part was the breakout room learning about Quantum Mechanics.
Even though I was completely knew to the topic, I mean really new (I didn’t learn basic physics in school yet), I still really enjoyed the discussion as it really made me question reality.
Another enjoyable part for me was Stephen Balaban’s talk on his company Lambda Labs.
Lambda labs currently sells cloud computing GPUs for AI development. However, the story of he got there was very interesting, Lambda Labs isn’t what it was, when it first launched, it was known for it’s high performing and popular Facial Recognition API called Dreamscope.
It slowly transitioned into cloud computing and large scale GPU deployment.
Creating my Personal Website
This was something I wanted to create for a while but I just never did. However, for about 3 or 4 days, I coded everything from scratch.
Personal portfolios are a great way to showcase your past experiences, projects and even skills.
I don’t know why I didn’t create on until now.
